Members may access materials from the Library by personal visit or by
written request for loan by post.
-
Personal visits must be arranged at least one calendar week
beforehand and any changes in timing advised at the earliest possible
moment; there are no specific library hours, though Sunday visits are
'discouraged'. Meals and nearby overnight accommodation may be arranged.
-
Loans by post must be requested in writing; the request must be on a
signed Society order form or must include the phrase "I agree to abide by
the Library Rules" in a signed letter.
-
Whenever possible requested materials will be dispatched in suitable
packaging by Recorded Mail within three days of receipt of the request.
-
Any packets found damaged on arrival should be reported by return,
with photocopies demonstrating evidence of damage to packaging or
contents.
-
Materials may be retained by Members for not more than two weeks, and
should be returned in the same or similar packaging also by Recorded Mail.
-
Postal loans are charged at the rate of £1 plus the cost of out-going
mail. Your remittance in sterling (cheque, Euro-cheque, cash or
British postage stamps) must accompany the returned materials.
-
Each postal loan may comprise one book or up to three magazines or
other items; there is no limit to the number of loans to any Member,
though only one request from any individual may be outstanding at one
time.
-
Damaged or non-retuned books will be charged at the rate of £200 each;
magazines, auction catalogues or loose articles at the rate of £50 each.
-
Non-returnable photocopies may be provided of pre-1940 books and of
individual magazine articles or pages of auction catalogues at the
discretion of the Librarian; photocopies will be charged at the rate of £1
plus postage plus 15p per page, payable in sterling as at (7.) above.
-
The Librarian will report relevant statistics and financial
information each year to the Annual General Meeting of the Society.
-
Disputes will be considered and resolved by the Officers of the
Society, whose decision will be binding on all parties concerned.
